And Then I Knew

For the past few months, Pat Matheny's We Live Here has been a profound part of my days. It just fits my mood now.

The title of the song is such big part of this album. When I am taking a long walk, it brings my emotions up and down. My favorites are "Something To Remember", "To The End Of The World", "And Then I Knew. Today is difinitely, "And Then I Knew".

Starts off with good steady beat, like when you start to take interest in something. And like a process of how a little curiousity leads to taking action in getting to know more about it, be it about ballet, basketball, guitar, work, special friend, it has ebb and flow, goes fast and slow. You keep at it, for days and months, and after repetition in various ways, it finally comes to crescendo, that aha. And then I knew! It's just so right. It's just how I feel. Day to day work, being with kids or friends, my relationship with my husband.

And then I knew! I go at it each day, feeling up, down, good, bad. And then I knew what it was all about. Such sweetness. I want to dance about. Spread the joy.

How easy! Go to shopping/dining areas of high power office building clusters like Marunouchi, Roppongi Hills, Arc Hills, and look for man walking with child. Hardly without exception, somewhere in his vicinity will be his wife, maybe taking care of another child. The Japanese-American man or his kids or family will probably not look much different in how he dresses from the native Japanese salaried men. But the thing is, no Japanese men will invite their family to come join him after work near their office vicinity. There are some exception to this rule, but most of the time, this works.
